Wolf Panda t-shirts
Wolf Panda t-shirts are finally back in stock. Everyone's favourite (fake) Panda garage band are out of retirement and appearing on quality American Apparel tees. People will stop you in the street and compliment you on your awesomess when you wear these. True story.
Back in 1965 Japanese photographer Teruyoshi Hayashida compiled a book about preppy fashion on Ivy League college campuses. It’s recently been re-released and is pretty much incredible. We’ve ordered a copy from Amazon and are writing a proper feature on it for another magazine / website. More on this when the other article goes up.
Toro Y Moi has left the chillwaves behind! One of our favourite artists/musicians of 2010 has ditched the hazy sound of his debut, Causers of This, in favour of banging house tracks. He’s releasing these as Les Sins. And they’re actually really, really good. Can’t wait to hear his hip hop record.
To celebrate the (nearly) 20th anniversry of its release, Pete Rock and CL Smooth’s classic first album has been re-released. There’s a deluxe, limited edition version of Mecca and Soul Brother floating around at the moment. You can pick it up from Amazon and the like.
We don’t need much of an excuse to play classic hip hop around here so plz-to-enjoy some old music videos. Oh yeah, we also found this Pete Rock mix online. It covers most of his classic tracks as a producer and his work with CL Smooth. You’ll want to download it.
Every six months or so I develop an unhealthy obsession with Vanishing Point. It’s an action-road-movie released in 1971 and centres around Kowalski – a guy who has to drive a Dodge Challenger across the US while nursing a head full of bad drugs. “The question is not when he’s going to stop, but who’s going to stop him…”
Anyway, it’s a cult classic and if you haven’t already done so you should watch it.
Hater-Bot is the best thing on the Internet right now – 1:20am, Thursday Sep 9, 2010.
Not exactly sure what the background story is here, don’t really care, Hater-Bot is awesome. This should be an Adult Swim cartoon… Meanwhile, you like cornflakes? Anyone tell you you got pretty eyes?
My Trashbaggery column over at Lifelounge is now 50 installments deep. To celebrate I’ve compiled some of the bestest videos from the last year. Go over to LL and read / watch it now. There are #cats, #LindsayLohan, #KimKardashian, #drugs, #gossip, #maddramaz, etc.
So Machete should be out in (local) cinemas soonish. It’s already looking like the greatest film ever. A Citizen Kane for our time. To help promote its release SA Studios was commissioned to produce a series of shorts involving Danny Trejo (aka, Machete). Here are a couple.
So we knew that Detroit producer Black Milk was nice. He was always popping up on mixtapes, and in the right magazines, and all the rest of it. We didn’t appreciate just how incredible his shit was until this came along.
Black Milk’s 4th studio album (‘Album of the Year’) is due out September 14. Might actually have to buy this one instead of just streaming it / listening to it on YouTube.
