16 things I’ve been doing (instead of updating this site)

Articles | 26-09-2011

Mikolai Napieralski Team Evil

1. Reliving my Tokyo ‘misadventures’ via Yakuza 4 for the PS3
2. Working three jobs at once and not bothering to sleep
3. Taking weird ‘Valiums’ from Thailand that (when combined with alcohol) cause you to post weird shit on Facebook that makes NO SENSE.
4. Hanging out in cocktail bars on weeknights with visiting ex-girlfriends getting loaded on Manhattans
5. Taking mini holidays to Noosa and posing in photos with a schnauzer (held triumphantly over my head).
6. Writing lists about things I’ve been doing
7. Resizing photos (sigh)
8. Watching The Rules of Attraction again (which always puts me in a broken headspace)
9. Realising I probably can’t think of ten things for my ’10 things list’… but then adding six more.
10. Yelling at my mortgage broker [via being an adult. Sort of.]
11. Listening to Eric B and Rakim’s Paid in Full [the original version] and wondering if the spoken word intro bit is longer than the actual verse. [And for the record, we like the original version, that Colcut mix is totally played out]
12. Taking photos of various toys people keep sending me
13. Lecturing about social media [and then not doing it properly myself]
14. Thinking of retiring to the county and buying a donkey
15. Trying to find a vintage Gucci sweater on eBay
16. Grabbing images of cute girls holding cats

I’m not dead… (Part 2)

Frank Ocean

Here’s the new Frank Ocean… [via posting things just for the sake of posting them and maintaining an online presence].

But really though, liking the whole ‘Frank Ocean’ thing. If you haven’t already downloaded his (free album) Nostalgia ULTRA you should do that right now. Too busy to spend 20 seconds looking for the link – sorry…

Okay, that’s it. 1:30am here, time to get back to work :(

This isn’t much of an update – just some old shool arcade machine marques I found on this site. I’ve been entirely snowed under with A MILLION lots of freelance projects and haven’t had any time to eat or sleep. Nevermind updating this website. So yeah. Not dead. Just ‘OH. MY. GOD.’ busy…

The Face magazine (1980-2004)

Articles | 06-09-2011

The Face

The Face is probably our favourite magazine of all time. We like it so much we’re trying to put together a little tribute project. Only problem is it’s really difficult to track down the original editors / publishers / designers / writers / etc for these interviews we want to conduct. If you know anyone who used to work for the magazine please drop us an email at the address below.

Better yet, if your name is Nick Logan, Sheryl Garratt, Richard Benson, Adam Higginbotham, Johnny Davis or Neil Stevenson please get in contact. The email address is mikolai[at]teamevil[dot]com[dot]au.

Meanwhile, here are some highlights from a couple of issues we had within reach. More images are available here. Kthxbye.

Team Evil NKNM

NKNM is a new music project from some old friends – Dai Cut (Matt) & Nikuman (Nick). The guys don’t really have bio or anything, but their soundscape-isht is kinda amazing. Here are some snippets from their Soundcloud account.

Vincent Gallo interviews Vincent Gallo

Articles | 04-09-2011

Vincent Gallo Supreme

Years and years ago the Beastie Boys had a glorified zine called Grand Royale. It was their magazine to do whatever the hell they wanted with, and so it was filled with features about Ramen noodles, Jew-fros and saving Tibet. It was also home to the greatest article ever – Vincent Gallo writing about Vincent Gallo. We still read this on a regular basis for inspiration, e.g. “I stopped painting in 1990 at the peak of my success just to deny people my beautiful paintings. And I did it out of spite.”

PS. These images have nothing to do with the Grand Royale article, they’re form a Supreme lookbook from a couple of years back. This seemed as good a time as any to use them..
